MCGREGOR STREET DRAIN CULVERT - History
This drain is shown on projecting into the Bay in 1890.MCGREGOR STREET DRAIN CULVERT - Interpretation of Site
This drain is very similar to the Harold St Drain, but is connected all the way to the shore via the trapezoidal section concrete culvert. The drain has obviously been used as a jetty structure at some time, as it has galvanised iron handrails on the seaward end.
The function of this site as a jetty and a drain is considered to be significant, and has similaraties with other such structures in the Port Melbourne Area (eg Cowderoy St Drain, Kerferd Rd Pier, Harold St Drain).
