HENLEYS ON MARIBYRNONG LANDING AND BOATSHED - History
Henley's Landing and boat shed are still evident on this site situated on the river banks of Maribyrnong Park. This area was a popular picnic spot, with boats for hire, a band rotunda, and adjacent rowing regatta grandstands. The park was first proclaimed in 1906 and was the first official park on the Maribyrnong. Promenading was popular in the area, and a bandstand and tearooms were located in the area.HENLEYS ON MARIBYRNONG LANDING AND BOATSHED - Interpretation of Site

HENLEYS ON MARIBYRNONG LANDING AND BOATSHED - Heritage Inventory Description
Henley's Landing and boat shed are situated on the river banks of Maribyrnong Park. It is approximately 70 m long, with upright concrete piles (spaced at approximately 1.5 m intervals) used to brace the concrete faced wharf, which has a horizontal rubbing strake. It is speculated that this construction may have been built over a former timber structure. Directly above the wharf is the boathouse, which has now been converted to a restaurant (the Boathouse Restaurant and CafĂ). To the adjacent south, remnants of the former landing or possibly slipway are evidenced by a number of small gauge timber piles (at least three) and a section of rough-cut bluestone.
Landing, boat shed and archaeological deposits associated with the site's use.
