STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The reinforced concrete ventilation stack at Black Rock is historically and scientifically significant at a REGIONAL level. It is associated with the Geelong Waterworks and Sewerage Trust's Ocean Outfall Scheme of 1911-15, designed and constructed by the engineers, Stone and Siddeley, using the Considere system. It also contributes to a wider understanding of Geelong's sewerage scheme from the 1910s.
Overall the ventilation stack at Black Rock is of REGIONAL significance.
It is highly recommended that a conservation management plan is carrried out on the structure.

Sewerage Vent Stack - Physical Description 1
This circular, reinforced concrete ventilation stack is approximately five metres high and around 800mm in diameter. It is characterised by a conical base and has both vertical and horizontal ribbing, forming rectangular patterns. A projecting capping supported by dentils form the top to the stack. Description
