Stained Glass Window at Bangholme Methodist Church - Memorial Window Description & History
At a meeting of the Dandenong Methodist Church in February 1934, it was resolved to build a new church at Bangholme on land donated by Mr. F. Pillar. By September the same year, the tender had been let to Messrs. Wenke and Brown of Dandenong. Two months later the Rev. Semmens of Dandenong ordered a Soldiers' Memorial window from Brooks, Robinson & Co., which measured 65 5/8 x 21 inches. Crossed flags and two shields were set against a diamond quarry background that was painted and stained with fleur-de-lys. The top shield contained names of the deceased and the lower shield held the names of the returned servicemen. The inscriptions were written in two ribbons below the shields. The building has been converted into a private home and the whereabouts of the window is unknown.
