Statement of Significance
The large house at 56 Collins Street Drysdale previously called Sherwood, is believed to have been built in 1889 as a vicarage for the nearby St James Church of England. It is built of weatherboard on a bluestone foundation.
The former St James vicarage has historic and social value to the Drysdale community because of its associations with St James Church for over 100 years.

DESCRIPTION
A single fronted, corrugated iron roof weatherboard house with a gable in the NW corner. The gable has plain bargeboards, a diamond shaped wall decoration (possibly a ventilator),timber drop down 'finials' and verandah extends. The west side verandah has timber posts and cast iron lace. The two hexagonal chimneys are painted white. The house is set on a large block with established gum trees and a new picket fence. The significant architectural features are the original roof form, the original doors, windows and chimneys, the intact verandah decoration and structure and the early paint colour scheme.
