Statement of Significance
The Bluestone cottage located on the north side of the Macarthur-Penshurst Road, about 1.5kms west of the township of Penshurst, is a small vernacular building of two rooms, possibly dating from the 1850s. There has been a small timber extension to the north, and at the rear there is a small brick outbuilding which is close to collapse. The buildings are in poor and ruinous condition, but retain a high degree of integrity.

The Bluestone Cottage in the Macarthur-Penshurst Road is of historical significance to the Southern Grampians shire and to the township of Penshurst.

The Bluestone Cottage in the Macarthur-Penshurst Road is of historical significance as an example of the small landholdings and farms surrounding the early townships of the Shire. It provides us with information and evidence of a past way of life.

BLUESTONE COTTAGE - Physical Conditions
The cottage is in very poor condition and has been crudely repaired on the north side. The outbuilding is ruinous and a dangerous condition.

The bluestone cottage located on Section 14, Allotment 47 is a small two roomed single storey bluestone cottage. The hipped roof is covered with corrugated iron. The windows are casements, suggesting an early date. There has been a small timber extension to the north. A verandah, possibly not original, has been demolished. Towards the rear there is a small brick outbuilding which is close to collapse.
