'Corswell' at 78 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds, built c.1888 for Margaret McDougall, is significant.
How is it significant?
'Corswell' is of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
Why is it significant?
This importance (Criterion E) arises from the building's capacity to represent a very common villa form of its time, given individual identity by the application of stuccoed ornamentation, the aedicules being noteworthy in this respect.

HOUSE (CORSWELL) - Physical Description 1
A typical imposing Italianate two storeyed late Victorian stuccoed asymmetrical villa with recent corrugated iron clad hipped roof and two storeyed cast iron lace corner verandah terminated by projecting wings. The entry is round arched and there are aedicules to the windows, those to the projecting wing being in pairs.
