Statement of Significance
The Grange, Built in 1888 for the Hudson family, is significant to the Cardinia Shire for its historical links with the earliest settlers of the district (Mickles, Hudsons) and its evident early date among other farm houses in the Yallock or Koo-wee-rup district. Its siting, facing away from the street is evocative of its role as a predecessor of the town subdivision. It was the home of one of the more prominent Koo-wee-rup towns people and became a de facto social centre for the new community.

This simple weatherboard clad double-fronted verandahed Victorian-era house faces away from the road on its new subdivision allotment. There is a new picket fence at the front.
Relevant mature trees include mature silky oak (`Grevillea robusta') at the front boundary; one English oak and elm (?) at the south boundary; a magnolia to the north side and a dead Monterey pine at the rear. This pine was once one of many around the property.
There was also once a small cheese factory attached to the house which was typical attribute for many contemporary farm housesThe Grange - Physical Conditions
The house has been divorced from its context and its out-buildings by subdivision but retains a strong expression of its construction date.
