Statement of Significance

What is significant?
The Berry's Creek Public Hall, at 20 Berry's Creek Road, Berry's Creek, constructed by A.G. Miles and opened on 13 July 1956, is significant. It is a rectangular timber gabled post war hall with battened cement sheet walls with a bullnosed weatherboard dado. A regular pattern of windows, single at the front and paired at the sides, is formed with fixed glazing with louvres in the upper panels. 
Non-original alterations and additions including the toilet block are not significant.
How is it significant?
The Berry's Creek Public Hall is of local historic and social significance to the South Gippsland Shire.
Why is it significant?
Historically, this is the second public hall in Berry's Creek and is associated with the development of the district in the mid-twentieth century due to closer settlement. Together with the Avenue of Honour and former school, it marks the historic centre of the Berry's Creek community. (Criterion A) 
This hall has social significance for strong and enduring associations with the Berry's Creek community through its continuous use as a public hall for over 60 years. (Criterion G)
