DUDLEY MINE - History
The mine appears to be No 16 shaft of the State Coal Mine, Wonthaggi, but known locally as the Dudley Mine. It operated from 1925-1938, producing just under 2 million tons of coal from two levels.DUDLEY MINE - Interpretation of Site
Access to sites on private property was not able to be arranged so the fabric was not investigated in detail. The visible fabric conveys that this was a large-scale underground coal mining operation.
