The c1910s weatherboard milk bar and the attached house and the surrounding site to the title boundaries.
How is it significant?
The milk bar and attached house are historically, socially and aesthetically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
Why is it significant?
The milk bar and attached house are historically significant because they were developed around the time of the arrival of the railway line to Hurstbridge (1912) and their construction is a reminder of the changes that the railway brought to the town (Criterion A). The milk bar is historically and socially significant because it has been a centre for community life for approximately 90 years (Criterion G). The house is aesthetically significant because its facade is relatively intact and its small size contrasts with the larger milk bar and because both it and the milk bar form part of a small group of buildings built in the 1910s and 1920s, which provide the town centre of Hurstbridge with much of its character (Criterion E).
