Statement of Significance
'Oak Park', comprising the house constructed c.1879, at 7 Oak Park Court, Oak Park.
How is it Significant?
'Oak Park' is of local historic significance to the City of Moreland.
Why is it Significant?
Of historical significance as one of only two nineteenth century houses in the Oak Park area. (AHC Criteria A4)
It demonstrates the early phase of farming in this area and is built on the site of the former Belle Vue homestead, which was associated with John Pascoe Fawkner, pioneer, politician and co-founder of Melbourne, who lived on the property between 1840 and 1855. (AHC Criteria H1)

OAK PARK (FORMER) - Physical Description 1
Oak Park is a two storey, rendered brick Italianate style house, with a slated hipped roof and cast iron balcony and verandah. The house has recently undergone substantial refurbishment. Several new French windows and a verandah have been added to the single storey northern wing, possibly part of Fawkner's original complex.(1) The roof has been re-slated, and the two storey verandah on the main house has been reconstructed.
