HUNTINGTOWER (FORMER) - Physical Description 1
Kingsley College is a large asymmetrical two storey bichrome brick house with an arcaded two storey brick loggia and a hipped roof clad in terracotta tiles. Wallsa re of re face brick with cream brick dressings to opwnigns, arch voussoirs, and string courses. The three storey tower on the east elevation is surmounted by a brick parapet. Windows are tripartite timber-framed double-hung sashes.
A photograph dating from 1898 indicate the extent of alterations to the roof and first floor verandah. The original return verandah, with two bays to the north (South Street) elevation and three bays to the east, had wide arched openings matching those now remaining at ground floor level. The verandah terminated at a simple parapet which concealed the roof. Remnants of the original corrugated iron roofing and roof framing within the present roof cavity suggest that the original roof was of a very low pitch.(6) The present terracotta tiled roof was added between 1926 and 1947, at which time the first floor balcony openings were reduced in size and the verandah separately roofed with metal decking. Some of the tower windows were also altered as a consequence of the change in roofline.

Landscape
The significant landscape associated with Kingsley College consists of two mature Monterey Pines (Pinus radiata) to the east of the building, which have a rather low, wide spreading habit. These trees are significant as mature plantings from the early history of the site, before the encroachment of suburban development. They illustrate the rural past of the area, assist in providing an appropriate setting for a locally significant house, and contribute to the amenity of the surrounding landscape.
