Statement of Significance
The Avenue of Honour and War Memorial, established in 1919 with later replacements, at Memorial Avenue and Main Street, Narre Warren North.
The Avenue of Honour and War Memorial at Narre Warren North is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Casey.
Historically, the Avenue of Honour and associated memorial are significant as a memorial to the men from the Narre Warren area who served as soldiers, and the three who gave their lives during the 1914-18 War. It is typical of the many memorial avenues and monuments erected in Berwick and throughout Victoria after the First World War.
Aesthetically, the Avenue of Honour has landscape significance, creating a spectacular canopied entrance to the centre of the Narre Warren North township.

Avenue Of Honour & War Memorial (Narre Warren North) - Physical Description 1
The Narre Warren North Avenue Of Honour begins at the bend in Memorial Drive, which is marked by the memorial and extends northward. It crosses Robinson Road and meets the diagonal Main Street, continuing on the south side of this road for about 30 metres.
The memorial is a granite obeslisk on a stepped rough-hewn bluestone base, which is now contained within a white picket fence, which has been added later or is a replacment of an original enclosure. On the front of the memorial is a bronze insignia of the Australia Commonwealth Military Forces above the following words:
"Erected by the residents of Narre Warren North in honour of the brave boys who enlisted from this district for the Great World WAr 1914-1918"
It also lists the names of the three men who paid the supreme sacrifice. Other names are listed on the other sides; those at the rear are for the Vietnam War.Avenue Of Honour & War Memorial (Narre Warren North) - Physical Conditions
