EXPERIMENTAL ORCHARD - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Established in 1891 by E H. Lascelles. Yarriambiack Creek damned to supply water. 6 acres of vines, a lucerne plot, fruit trees, flowers and vegetables were established. Abandoned in 1915 because of salinity.Heritage Inventory Description
EXPERIMENTAL ORCHARD - Heritage Inventory Description
Two lochs forming part of an orchard. Tangyes pump and engine now at Hopetoun Homestead. Two olive trees survive on freehold land.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Local significance (on public land) but together with olive trees and pump, site is of regional significance especially because of association with Lascelles.
