Statement of Significance
The Warrnambool Customs House, constructed in 1860 and probably designed by Charles Maplestone of the Public Works Department, is important at the State level as one of the relatively small number of Customs Houses built in Victoria and for its contribution to Warrnambool's notable precinct of 19th century public buildings. It is a small rock faced bluestone building with side access, hipped roof, and later porch (now filled in), dating from the early phase of the town's development, demonstrating this state's history as an independent colony and Warrnambool's history as a port.
