Statement of Significance
The Yarram Butter Factory building was erected in 1908 and designed by Crawley and Knights. It is an elegant double storey building of sandstone blocks, cement faced, with an additional single storey attached, probably at a later date, although in a similar style. Although situated on the edge of town it fronts the highway. The building is remarkable for its ornate lettering and for the visual contribution it makes to the town streetscape. It is indicative of the importance the dairy industry had, and still has, on small Gippsland towns and its part of the continuing dairying industry still occurring on the same site. It is unusual in that the old building has not been incorporated into any newer additions but left free standing.
