Outstanding size
This tree is an impressive example of this species with a dense crown and wide-spreading canopy and is said to be around 100 years old. It is a dominant feature of the landscape.
Quercus suber is slow-growing and long-lived,up to 250 years of age. Cork oak bark has been harvested for thousands of years. This species is easily distinguishable from the English oak (Quercus robur), by its knobbly grey bark and long evergreen leaves.
