Statement of Significance

Contribution to landscape

Known locally as the 'Fighting Tree' this specimen has a colourful history. Located beside the main road to the goldfields and the Hopkins River crossing, the tree stoodbetween two pubs. Apparently,when two men started to argue they were sent to fight under the tree. Two-up was also played under the tree. This tree is an improtant part of the districts local history.
