PLYMOUTH BRETHREN CHURCH AND BLACKSMITH SITE - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The granite structure was the former Plymouth Brethren Church. This was originally the stables, with a brick and mudbrick upper storey being the church. Eagles Road formerly ran past the site to the east, but it was closed because the gradient was too steep for horse drawn wagons. A blacksmith (Mr Thorne) operated here when the road was in use, and a dairy was also located here. The church dates to the 1880s and the blacksmith may be of a similar age. The church fell into disrepair when most of the Plymouth Brethren moved to Castlemaine.Heritage Inventory Description
