RAVENSWOOD RESERVE - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: This site has been a popular picnic spot for train travellers since the opening of the line in 1862. Special picnic trains ran to Ravenswood on holidays such as Melbourne Cup Day.
RAVENSWOOD RESERVE - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: The artefact scatter has probably resulted from the use of the reserve as a picnic spot by rail travellers over many years in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

RAVENSWOOD RESERVE - Heritage Inventory Description
Scatter of historical artefacts in the public reserve on the west side of the Ravenswood railway siding. Most artefacts are around several large granite boulders, near a shallow creek.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Low archaeological significance. High regional significance because of its place in the early history of Ravenswood.
