LASCELLES WHARF - History
Built prior to 1929 (Loney, 1981: 134). The overhead conveyor was built prior to 1959 to transport produce for the Phosphate Company (Ports and Harbours Branch, 1959:274). The wharf has been rebuilt and extended, and land reclaimed around it (Strachan, 2000). When lascelles Wharf complex was completed in 1970, the Kings Wharf, which had been strengthened in 1965 to accomodate four large kangaroo pouch cranes for lifiting sulphate and phosphate rock (Brownhill, 1990: 707)Heritage Study and Grading
