Statement of Significance
Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009
Sefton is of historical significance as an early Queenscliff residence, built and occupied by pilot William O'Neil, and for its association with other prominent residents in the community, including pilot Henry Reed and hotelier George Admans. It is also of historical and architectural significance as a substantially intact example of a mid-nineteenth century house in Queenscliff. It forms part of a cohesive group of early houses in this part of King Street, all of which were constructed by early Queenscliff pilots. The group is of particular interest for its contrast with the form of development seen at Pilots Row.

Extract from the 2009 study
Sefton is a double-fronted single-storey symmetrically composed brick Victorian house, which is set back from King Street behind a small front garden. A timber picket fence extends across the King Street boundary. There is a panelled timber door at centre and this is flanked by double-hung sash windows. The house has a hipped roof clad in slate tile. There are cement rendered brick chimneys at each end. A verandah with timber posts and a convex roof extends across the King Street (south) elevation. Decorative brackets fixed to the posts of the verandah are not original.
