Rock Cut Tunnel, ford and water race (Break Neck Gully, via Ambler Lane Track) - Physical Description 1
A water race cut in the east bank, running from Graham Dam to the Darley crossing in Lerderderg Gorge has sections ofrock cut, mortared freestone and
earth walled channel. Sections with no clear channel may have been constructed with timber races. Off the channel, which now has a walking track following it, are several tunnel entrances, mostly caved in. Elsewhere are test pits and shallow shafts. Hut sites have also been identified and these may provide important archaeological evidence.
A walking track now follows the course ofthe race which is silted or eroded in several places. Several mine-shafts can be seen along the race. Additional channels can be traced for short distances on both sides ofthe river and a longer section exists at the end ofthe Upper Chadwick Track associated with stones from a hut. (Refer : maps).
