CLARK & PEARCE 'NEW' NO.3 MILL - History
The mill began operation in September 1927, with housing for four families and several single men. Logs were obtained via a tramway running south along the Royston River, and via lowering gear feeding an incline down to the mill from the Royston Range to the east. The mill was destroyed by bushfire on 10 January 1939, killing four men. It was rebuilt and cut until 1946.CLARK & PEARCE 'NEW' NO.3 MILL - Interpretation of Site
No remains of the actual mill exist. The outlet tramway has been converted to the Royston River Road for almost all of its length. The log tramway wouth of the mill has also been converted into a section of the Royston River Road. A fire refuge dugout is substantially intact but very heavily overgrown.
