WHITELAW BRICK QUARRY - History
Material for brickmaking was quarried and processed (into hand-made bricks) at this site during the late-19th century. Bricks made here were used in Blake's Homestead and in civic buildings at Korumburra (Mrs. Worthy, pers com, 14/03/02; Mr. Boston, pers com, 01/03/02).WHITELAW BRICK QUARRY - Interpretation of Site
Site was quarried for brick-making and may have been quarried for stone as well. No evidence remains of precessing or brick-making works at the site. The quarry was worked during the late-19th century to provide bricks for construction. Grafitti at the site chiselled into the stone face of the quarry dates to 1965 and was likely done well after quarrying had ceased.
