SCAFFIDI BLUESTONE FORD - History
PROPERTY FARMED BY MICHAEL LYNCH FROM 1853 BUT LEASED TO JAMES HENNESSY AND RICHARD PLANT IN 1860S. OWNERSHIP PASSED TO SON WILLIAM LYNCH IN 1871 UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1902. DURING W LYNCHJ'S OWNERSHIP, PROPERTY LEASED TO DAIRY FARMERS HENDERSON (FROM 1870S-1880S) AND JS MORGAN (1890S). MORGAN DAIRY FARMED ON LARGE SCALE IN EPPING, DURING LYNCH'S WONERSHIP THERE WERE NO MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS. BLUESTONE FORD LIKELY RELATED TO DAIRY FARMING OPERATIONS SURING W LYNCH'S OWNERSHIP (1870S-1900S).SCAFFIDI BLUESTONE FORD - Interpretation of Site
Ford probably used to enable stock to cross from study area into other paddocks. Area used for major dairy production in the late 1800s-early 1900s.

SCAFFIDI BLUESTONE FORD - Heritage Inventory Description
Bluestone constructed ford crossing Edgars Creek approx 150n north of Harvest Home Road.
Physical Conditions:
Small bluestone ford constructed over incised water course (Edgars Creek) on Scaffidi property. Ford comprises large bluestone blocks acting as retaining walls on base and sides; filled and topped with smaller cobbles acting as firm surface for animal traffic.
