LYNCH PARK FARM - History
John Pike erected a homestead on this section of land by 1850. The land was subsequently owned by Michael Lynch and leased. The land was used for grazing cattle. A house remained on the site until 1951 when the Government sub-divided land for the Soldier Settlement Scheme.LYNCH PARK FARM - Interpretation of Site
The updated information (as follows) comes from The Whittlesea Study by Context Pty Ltd in 2010. The site represents the remains of a small homestead probably dating to the mid to late 19th century. The previous site card (2002) records a separate ruin and and an area of bluestones to the north of the site, which it labels as 'Pykes Homestead'. No evidence of these features was identified during the survey and they may have been removed in preparation for development - a number of new fences now criss-cross the site reflecting recent subdivision.
LYNCH PARK FARM - Historical Significance
The site could contribute valuable information to the local history of the Epping area, and illustrate the pattern of small-scale dairying from the mid-late 19th century.
LYNCH PARK FARM - Archaeological Significance
The site has some potential for archaeological deposits relating to the agricultural and domestic use of the site.
