PART OF BROCKS FARM C1850-90. GOVERNMENT PURCHASE C.1900. WW1 REHABILITATION HOSPITAL 1920S. TUBERCULOSIS SANATORIUM 19530S. JANEFIELD HOSPITAL FOR DISABLED CHILDREN 1937 ONWARDS.JANEFIELD 14 - Interpretation of Site
POSSIBLE SITE OF HOUSE RELATED TO BROCKS FLOUR MILL (C1847-1850S) MAY HAVE BEEN USED AS PART OF FARM ESTATE IN SECOND HALF OF 19TH-C, PLUS EARLY 20TH-C; EG SOFT DRINK BOTTLES. GRAVEL QUARRY APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN USED IN CONTEMPORARY TIMES (C.1940-70).

Surface artefacts provide evidence that it is likely that archaeological deposits exist at the site. Archaeological material will be of moderate significance in a local context.

JANEFIELD 14 - Heritage Inventory Description
Peppercorn trees mark the site of a building, probably originally timber with brick chimney, roofing slate, broken glass and ceramics, generally of early to mid 20th-C but some possible 19th-C material. Quarried area to north is more recent.
TREES - PEPPERCORN AND SUGARGUM, GRAVEL QUARRY, ARTEFACT SCATTER, BUILDING SITE.
Physical Conditions:
Fair - considerable disturbance.
