MOUNT COTTRELL SCHOOL SITE - History
Mount Cottrell State School #804 opened in1921 on the site and closed in 1949. The school buildingwas removed in 1968 to the Truganina Progress Association grounds. The site is one of two school sites in the Mount Cottrell area, the other is on the east side of Dukelows Road, between Dohertys and Boundary Roads. It is not known whether evidence of this structure remains.MOUNT COTTRELL SCHOOL SITE - Interpretation of Site
Former school site dating to 1921, with structural and landscape features remaining on the surface. The school serviced the local farming community for 28 years. It is now part ofa reserve.
MOUNT COTTRELL SCHOOL SITE - Archaeological Significance
The school site is of moderate archaeological significance and maintains a medium to low level of intactness and a medium level of integrity. No structures remain, however, evidence of their former location and building materials remains. Subsurface evidence is likely to remain associated with the construction and use of the school. Evidence of landscaping features remains.
MOUNT COTTRELL SCHOOL SITE - Historical Significance
The Mount Cottrell School Site is of local historical significance being one of two school sites in Mount Cottrell to service the farming community in the early 20th century. It is unknown whether evidence of the other school remains. The site reflects the development of community life in the region.

MOUNT COTTRELL SCHOOL SITE - Heritage Inventory Description
Updated description: Site comprises garden beds with stone edging and exotic plantings; artefact scatters including structural evidence (bluestone, brick, timber); remnant fencing and plantings. Site is bordered at the north and east by rows of coppiced gum trees which form border plantings across the entire Cobbledick Ford Reserve landscape and ruin site on the western side of the river.

Previous description: Site of former Mount Cottrell State School, built 1921. School building removed 1968. Site contains remnant garden beds, scatters of building material, tin cans & ceramic and exotic vegetation. Two large garden beds, one of which is partially destroyed, the other contains exotic shrubs & cactus. Several small clusters of stone, brick & scattered ceramic and tin.
