What is significant?
The c1880 English Oak (Quercus Robur) known as Donaldson's Oak (The tree may have been planted at the same time as Wippell's Oak, see HO 99).
How is it significant?
Donaldson's Oak is historically and aesthetically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
Why is it significant?
It is historically significant because it was planted by John Donaldson, a pioneer settler at Kangaroo Ground, from an acorn collected from England's Windsor Great Park in 1878 (Criteria H & B). It is aesthetically significant as a local landscape feature and one of the largest examples of an English Oak in the Shire (Criterion E).

A large spreading tree of significant age, this tree is one of the largest examples of this species in the Shire. The tree is located on the edge of the road reserve in private property. It has had tree surgery work carried out on it in recent years to help maintain the longevity. This tree has been previously identified and listed in the Eltham Planning Scheme.
