Statement of Significance

An early and elaborate solid handmade brick double story building with unusual double roof and wide buttressed eaves which was erected C1875. The building is the only one remaining in the district of this type and is a significant example of a phase of cheesemaking and of model farm development. The building is notable for its association with the Clarke family and with Murdoch MacDonald, cheesemaker, as well as forming an integral part of an intact important early farm complex with homestead, wells and outbuildings.
