Statement of Significance
A simplified Gothic house thought to date from 1855, with a pleasing trellised verandah, and set in park-like surroundings. The house was built in 1847for Fredrick Evelyn Liardet, a member of the notable Liardet family, founders of Sandridge. The house was made of bricks made on the property and the house is now, the oldest brick house in Frankston. The plans for the house were drawn up by Fredrick's father, Wilbraham and its Gothic revival style was based on a farmhouse near Marseille where Wilbraham had once stayed. All the wooden sections of the house were commissioned from a Marseille firm and the glass
too is French. The earliest date for the house is probably closer to 1847 and the house was built by Wilbraham and his sons with assistance of their Jamaican manservant, Adam Orange and 10 convicts loaned for the purpose by Govenor Latrobe.
