Statement of Significance
The Riddell's Creek Goods shed and platforms are architecturally significant at the State and National levels as key contributors to the cultural significance of the Melbourne to Echuca Railway line. The goods shed is of bluestone construction and in this respect representative of construction standards applied to the Grand Trunk lines from Geelong to Ballarat and Melbourne to Bendigo and Echuca. It is the most intact surviving example of a small group of similar goods sheds remaining at Little River and Kyneton and existing formerly at Bannockburn. The combination of goods shed and platform verandah was once representative of design standards for the Grand Trunk lines but survives today only at Riddell's Creek. The Grecian temple form, though characteristic of the Grand Trunk lines era, is distinctive, whilst the run through design of the shed recalls earlier English practices and became obsolete in Victoria during the 1870s.
