Statement of Significance

An Anglican church of 1869-70 designed by the distinguished Melbourne architect Leonard Terry, but which successfully adopts local materials and characteristics. The walls are faced in quartz pebbles in emulation of English flint-built churches, and contrast delightfully with the mellow red brick dressings. The same decorative walling is used in the many outbuildings of the contemporary homestead of Old Swanwater in the same district.
