Curious Growth Form:
A tree which exhibits a curious growth form or physical feature such as abnormal outgrowths natural fusion of branches, severe lightning damage or unusually pruned forms.
The country club was the brainchild of Collins Street specialist Dr Bottomley who headed a syndicate purchasing land formerly owned by Carl Axel Nobelius. A 9-hole golf course ws designed and the clubhouse opened in 1929. A popular weekend attraction, the club continued in private hands until 1987 when it was purchased by Ausgolf Pty Ltd. The Bottomley family still retains interest in the remaining sections of the old Nobelius property. The tree is believed to have been planted by the Bailleau-Myer family in the 1920s.
