PORCUPINE HILL SHEPHERD'S HUT RUIN - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: The site is on a hill, providing good views of the surrounding river flats, and perhaps an ideal location for a shepherd. The site is extensively deteriorated , and has been empty for a long time.

PORCUPINE HILL SHEPHERD'S HUT RUIN - Heritage Inventory Description
The deteriorated remains of a shepherd's hut, with a chimney base clearly visible at one end. There is a large brick scatter approximately 2 metres west of the remains. Some lines/depressions are visible in the earth about 25 metres west of the hut ruins, perhaps indicating a former stables or enclosure. Irises are planted on the site./n
Heritage Inventory Significance: Moderate archaeological (6) and moderate local historical significance.
Heritage Inventory Site Features: - stone footings of a ruined shepherd's hut., with a chimney base in the east wall and a doorway in the north wall. - brick material scattered west of the hut. - remains of a rectangular structure, the lines of the walls being visible in the earth. - rings of granite boulders, the interior planted with irises.
