Statement of Significance
"Grey Court" at 42 Brewster Street, Essendon, was erected by the builder, Roy Shankland, in 1930. It is aesthetically important (Criterion E) as a small Mediterranean villa of the inter war period distinguished by its successful exploitation of the Palladian window motif in the design of its loggia and reflected in the facade fenestration.

HOUSE (GREY COURT) - Physical Conditions
A representative Mediterranean villa with rough cast walls, tuckpointed clinker brick dressings and arcaded loggia, both loggia and south east room window, exploiting the Palladian (Serlian) window motif. There is a hipped roof and terrazzo loggia floor.
