Statement of Significance

The Goods Shed at Cowes Jetty, featuring a bow roof, is significant at the State level as an early (c.1869) and now rare example of a once common nineteenth century industrial building type. It is also of high local significance by virtue of its demonstration of the period in which all communication between Phillip Island and the mainland was by sea.
