Rare or localised
This tree is a fine example of the species which is listed on the IUCN Worlds Rare and Threatened Species List. It is unusual in cultivation in Victoria, occuring in provincial botanic gardens and early Victorian gardens. This evergreen tree is medium to tall with a neat, upright shape. The bark is grayish, leaves are coarse and black. and flowers are tiny.
In its natural habitat, Elaeodendron croceum occurs on the margins of coastal and other moist inland forests of Mozambique and Cape Province, South Africa
