    Plaque: This window is dedicated to the Glory of God and to commemorate the Men and Women of the Royal Australian Navy Health Service who served from 1901 to the present. It was presented to the Chapel of St. Mark by Cdre Dacre Smyth RAN (Ret'd). on 1st December 2002

    Stained Glass Window at Crib Point HMAS Cerberus Flinders Naval Depot Anglican Chapel - Memorial Window Description & History

    This, the right hand light of the three-light window, was designed with a Cross at the top of the low arch, above badges of the Royal Australian Navy and the Womens' Royal Australan Navy. Below was the St. John of God Cross with an anchor at either side, and then, side by side, the ignignia of the RAN Naval Nursing Service ('Devoted to Service') and RAN Health Service ('By Constant Care'), reinforced with thesmall images of the winged staff entwined with twin serpents, commonly used to denote the medical professions. The artist, Commodore Dacre Smyth,explained the memorial as follows: 'In the first hundred years of the Australian Navy's existence, over three thousand men and women served in its medical, dental and nursing services. Their service is our heritage.'
