    Stained Glass Window at Crib Point HMAS Cerberus Flinders Naval Depot Anglican Chapel - Memorial Window Description & History

    As noted on the window the 'Q Class Destroyers Quickmatch and Quiberon served in the RAN in World War II from 1942 to 1945. After the war they were converted to Frigates in 1955-57 and served in that role until 1963-64'. The igsignia of the two ships filled the upper section of the window: HMAS Quckmatch 'Swift to Strike', with battle honours for English Channel 1942, Atlantic 1942, Sabang 1944 and Okinawa 1945; HMAS Quiberon 'Seek and Subdue' took battle honours in Mediterranean 1942, North Africa 1942-43, Atlantic 1943 and Okinawa 1945. An image of a Q Class destroyer completed the upper panel and in the base panel, the window was '[d]edicated to the Glory of God and in memory of the two RAN Q Class Destroyers of Word War II and the men who served in them'.
